Dónall Curtin
Dónall is an experienced accountant, board director and business leader with a background in Finance, Corporate Governance, Audit and Risk Management. His Board directorships include Green Effects Investments plc, Road Safety Authority, National Treatment Purchase Fund , Irish College Leuven (as Chair), Design and Artists Copyright Society Ltd.
Dónall has considerable experience of serving on Audit & Risk Committees both in Private & Public sectors including in Cardiff University, National Treatment Purchase Fund (as Chair), Corporate Enforcement Authority (as Chair), Northern Ireland Public Service Ombudsman (as Chair) (Belfast), Royal Pharmaceutical Society (as Chair) (London), Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (London), Architects Registration Board (London), Registers of Scotland (Edinburgh), Maritime Area Regulatory Authority, etc.
He is a strong advocate of ensuring that best practice and good corporate governance exist within the boardroom and ensuring relevant structures within businesses to facilitate adoption of organisational values throughout.
Paul Stevenson
Paul joined the joint audit committee in April 2019 as vice chair. He qualified in 2008 following pupillage in central London chambers specialising in property and commercial law. He currently works in-house as an employed barrister and as the deputy head of legal of a statutory corporation and major institutional investor managing a diverse investment fund of £10.4 billion (2023), and his work cuts across public and private law.
In addition to his role on the joint audit committee, Paul acts as a trustee and non-executive director of a number of other charities and non-profits including the Collections Trust of which he is a member of the audit committee. He is a former vice chair of an academy trust and chaired the trust's finance and audit committee.
Shivani Kaushike
Shiv Kaushike has over 20 years experience working in risk, compliance, governance, strategy and EDI. Shiv holds the FCA approved Senior Management functions of SMF16 and 17 and is a Director of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs for an FCA regulated not for profit advising on social investment, corporate finance and outcomes based fund management. Shiv runs her own business advisory providing c-suites and boards with independent advice and guidance on risk, compliance, governance, strategy and EDI. She has designed and developed numerous risk management, audit, compliance, governance and EDI frameworks for major banks and financial institutions and other organisations in both the public and private sectors. She also provides high level advice on regulatory matters and complex and contentious issue management to firms. Shiv has a degree in International Economics from Manchester Metropolitan University, a Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP and a keen interest in AI and Sustainability. She has established and chaired Audit and Risk Committees as part of her roles. Shiv was also a Board Governor and Chair of Audit and Risk Committee for Northampton University for five years and has been a NED at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club for four years.
Ryan Richter
Ryan was called to the Bar in 1998 and completed pupillage at 9 – 12 Bell Yard Chambers. He then practised from the set as a tenant for 10 years where he specialised in criminal law. He joined the Crown Prosecution Service in the South East Area as an employed barrister and has been a Crown Advocate in the service since 2008. He has been a member of the Bar Council since 2017 and has co-chaired the Employed Bar Committee. He is a member of the South East Circuit, treasurer of the Surrey and South London Bar Mess and a committee member of the Sussex Bar Mess
Jeremy Stockwell
Jeremy's background is in financial services risk management, governance and controls. He has worked as a regulator at the Bank of England, in consultancy with KPMG and EY, and in-house with LIFFE, BNP Paribas and Lloyds Banking Group. His last executive role was with Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets plc leading the teams overseeing regulatory compliance, operational risk and conduct. Jeremy is a Governor and Audit Committee member at Canterbury Christ Church University; a Director and the Finance Committee Chair at Design South East; and the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for the British Psychotherapy Foundation.
Stephen Thornton CBE
Stephen's executive career was spent in the health sector where he has been chief executive of Cambridge & Huntingdon Health Authority, The NHS Confederation and The Health Foundation. His health sector non-executive roles have included The Healthcare Commission; Monitor (the independent regulator for NHS foundation trusts); the Eastern Academic Health Science Network; The Pathology Partnership; and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
He also chaired the National Institute for Health Research's Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care for the East of England. He has been a Member of the Board of Overseers for the International Partnership for Innovative Healthcare Development, Duke University, North Carolina, USA; a Member of the Governing Council of the International Hospital Federation; and a Lay Adviser on the UK Board for Healthcare Chaplaincy.
He has also been a Member of the Governing Council of the Open University.
He is presently Chair of Cambridge City Food Bank.
He was, until recently, a volunteer generalist adviser at Cambridge and District Citizens' Advice Bureau and is an Elder of Downing Place United Reformed Church, Cambridge
