Offence details:

Tony Opwa-Otto, being a non-practising barrister, in June 2006, held himself out as a practising barrister pursuant to paragraph 201 of the Code of Conduct of the Bar of England and Wales (8th Edition), by describing himself on his business card as a ?Barrister-at-Law? for the purpose of supplying legal services through a legal consultancy known as W of J International. His failure to comply with paragraphs 202(a) to 202(d) of the Code of Conduct was, by virtue of its nature and the aggravating factors that he:

i) on 11th December 2002, was convicted of providing immigration advice and services when not qualified to do so, contrary to Section 91 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, and

ii) failed to respond to requests for information relating to an investigation of W of J International by the Office of Immigration Services Commissioner which led to the de-registration of W of J International on 28 September 2006,

so serious as to be likely to bring the Bar into disrepute and therefore constitutes professional misconduct.
