David Abbott between 1 February 2009 and 6 July 2009 held himself out or allowed himself to be held out as a barrister pursuant to paragraph 201 of the Bar?s Code of Conduct without having a current practising certificate issued by the Bar Council in accordance with the practising requirements in paragraph 202(c) of the Code of Conduct in that:

a) On or about the 26 February 2009 he provided an opinion in which he described himself as a ?Barrister? and;

b) The letter enclosing the said opinion was signed ?David Abbott Barrister at Law?

such conduct being serious due to its nature and extent pursuant to paragraph 901.5 of the Code of Conduct.

David Abbott between 26 February 2009 and 31 July 2009 engaged in conduct likely to diminish public confidence in the legal profession or the administration of justice or otherwise bring the legal profession into disrepute contrary to 301(a)(iii) of the Code of Conduct in that despite agreeing to provide paperwork for a client for an appeal hearing, and despite being paid in advance for the same, he failed to do so.

David Abbott between 15 October and 18 November 2009 engaged in conduct discreditable to a barrister in that he entered or attempted to enter into an agreement with C inviting C to withdraw civil proceedings against him and his complaint about him to the Bar Standards Board if he paid the sum of ?500.
