Sarfraz Ibrahim engaged in conduct which was dishonest or otherwise discreditable to a barrister, contrary to paragraph 301(a)(i) of the Code of Conduct in that on various dates, when acting in his role as a member of the Bar employed as a senior lawyer by the Crown Prosecution Service he:

i. agreed to discontinue a criminal prosecution

in return for a cash inducement;

ii. discontinued a criminal prosecution for no

proper reason;

iii. accepted a cash payment of ?20,000 in return for discontinuing a criminal prosecution.

And that on the 28th June 2010 he was convicted upon his own confession of:

i. being an agent accepting a bribe;

ii. attempting to pervert the course of justice;

iii. misconduct in a public office;

And was on the 14th of July 2010 sentenced to a total sentence of 54 months (4 years and 6 months) imprisonment.
