The Bar Standards Board publishes new Business Plan for 2014-15

7 April 2014

The Bar Standards Board (BSB) today publishes a new Business Plan for 2014-15, outlining the aims and programmes of work for the coming year.

Our purpose is to provide specialist regulation of advocacy and expert legal advice in the public interest.

Our vision is to become by the end of 2016 a more modern and efficient regulator operating to externally agreed high standards, fulfilling our mission and upholding and promoting the regulatory objectives and professional principles.

The Business Plan sets out year two of the BSB's Strategic Plan for 2013-16. Our strategic aims:

  • Implementing new specialist regulatory frameworks for advocacy services;
  • Promoting greater public and professional understanding of what we do and why;
  • Setting and maintaining high standards of entry to, and practice in, a diverse profession;
  • Taking a more risk- and evidence-based approach to what we do; and
  • Striving for best practice as an organisation for those whom we serve and those who work for us.
