Future Bar Training Workshop - Help us describe the skills and knowledge all newly-qualified barristers need from day one

03 November 2014

On 31 October 2014, the Bar Standards Board (BSB) launched a major new programme of change called " Future Bar Training". Over the next three years, together with the legal community, we will reshape legal education and training for future generations of barristers.

As part of this bold and exciting new programme, we are developing a benchmark that describes the knowledge and skills that all newly-qualified barristers should possess on their first day in practice.

Developing a professional statement will help the BSB, training providers, employers and learners understand what the minimum standard should be for those Called to the Bar. It will also help inform the development of new qualifications and the revision of existing ones.

The BSB will be holding a series of interactive workshops for members of the Bar to share their thoughts on the knowledge, skills and attributes that anyone entering the profession should be able to demonstrate at the point of qualification.

The Bar is perfectly placed to help us identify the knowledge, skills and characteristics required at authorisation, and we want to hear from you.

Workshops are open to barristers working across all practice areas and levels of experience.

The dates and venues for the workshops are:
