Recruitment of next Chair of the Bar Standards Board

The Bar Standards Board (BSB) is now recruiting for a lay Chair to succeed Baroness Deech QC (Hon), whose term of office ends on 31 December 2014. The new Chair will provide visible leadership of the BSB at a critical time in the Bar's history.

The successor to Baroness Deech will be appointed by an Independent Appointments Panel for a three year fixed term, starting 1 January 2015. This can be renewed once for up to a further three years.

The closing date for applications is Friday 9 May 2014.

Only candidates considered to be lay are eligible to apply. Practising barristers and solicitors or any authorised person in relation to an activity that is a reserved legal activity are ineligible.
