Are you keen to make a contribution to the regulation of barristers?

We are seeking new barrister members for our Professional Conduct Committee.

We welcome applications from barristers with experience across a range of practice areas, with expertise in family, crime and employment law in particular.

The Professional Conduct Committee is responsible for taking decisions on enforcement action where a breach of the Bar's professional obligations, as set out in the BSB Handbook, is alleged. The work includes attending meetings, advising the Executive on legal issues arising from cases and preparing reports on individual cases.

The role is not currently remunerated. We currently pay lay members only, but we are actively considering extending payment to barrister members. Meetings will take place in London.

For more information and to apply, please visit the About Us section of our website Candidates should provide a letter outlining how they meet the competencies required for the positions, together with a brief CV. We also request that you complete an Equality and Diversity monitoring form, as we are always seeking to improve the accessibility of our recruitment processes.

We welcome barristers from all backgrounds and are particularly encouraging those from diverse and currently underrepresented groups, such as women, and members of the LGBT, Disability and BME communities, to join us on our Committee.

If you have any queries, please contact Alex Williams, Operational Support Team Manager. Please send completed applications to: OST@BarStandardsBoard.org.uk by 5pm Friday 2 February 2018.
