We recently launched a targeted engagement programme to seek views on two proposals: mandating the use of the Pupillage Gateway timetable for pupillage recruitment (but not the use of the Gateway itself), and mandating written agreements between pupils and their Chambers or other Authorised Education and Training Organisation (AETO). We would like to thank everyone who took the time to respond. We proposed that these requirements would be introduced as conditions of AETO authorisation in November 2019, but we have now decided that, if these proposals are adopted, more time would be needed for implementation. We will announce the outcome of the engagement programme and any dates by which implementation would be required in due course.
