The BSB has announced that an additional organisation – The Law Superstore – has joined its digital comparison tool (DCT) pilot study.
The Law Superstore will join the four DCTs already taking part in the BSB pilot. The existing BSB DCT pilot participants are: Lawyer 365, Legal Utopia, Review Solicitors and Trustpilot. Further DCTs are expected to join the pilot in the coming months.
DCTs allow consumers to locate and select service providers using a range of criteria, including provider location, availability, area of law, price, ratings and reviews to help with this process.
Commenting on the addition of The Law Superstore to the BSB DCT pilot, BSB Head of Regulation Policy and Research Rupika Madhura says: “The addition of The Law Superstore, our fifth DTC pilot participant, illustrates how the Barristers’ DCT market is continuing to expand. Through this pilot we hope to understand how the DCT market works for the Bar and its consumers.”
The Law Superstore spokesperson, CEO Rob Houghton, says: “Having helped put clients and solicitors in contact with each other for more than two decades, through The Law Superstore and our parent company reallymoving.com, we now feel it is time for clients of barristers to be offered the same opportunity. We offer a very low risk way for Direct Access Barristers to reach consumers and small businesses for selected services in target locations.”
In addition to signing up more DCTs, the BSB is continuing to encourage barristers to join its pilot. Barristers signing up to the pilot will be asked to join one, or more, of the pilot DCTs. They will then be asked to provide their feedback on their experience of working with DCTs. To learn more, or to sign up to our pilot, please contact [email protected]
Insights gathered from the pilot, including those provided by barristers, consumers and DCT participants, will directly feed into the BSB’s evaluation of this pilot. It is expected that the BSB’s DCT evaluation report will be published towards the end of 2023.
