Further to the statement which we issued on 5 August 2024, we have received information from the British Council in Bangladesh that it is planning to re-open on 14 August. As the situation currently stands, the venues holding the centralised exams on Monday 19, Wednesday 21 and Friday 23 August in both Dhaka and Chittagong plan to be open and, as such, examinations may take place.
Due to the state of civil unrest in Bangladesh, we do understand that some students may not wish to attend exams in person or may not have been able to prepare to the best of their ability. Students may therefore choose not to take these examinations now, without any detriment, and will have the opportunity to sit in December.
We will continue to monitor the situation in conjunction with the five Bar training providers who have students currently located in Bangladesh. If there are any changes announced by the British Council regarding the availability of venues prior to examinations, these will be shared here.
Students who are affected should contact their course providers through the usual channels, where possible, if they have any questions.
